FAQ

Need help?

Here are the most frequently asked questions about our SITENAV machine control system.

The Windows system is frozen on my tablet. What should I do?

Switch off and restart your entire device

What should I do when displaying the “Bargraph not connected” warning indicator?

It’s probably a power failure. Check that the cigarette-lighter cable is properly plugged in, that the on-off switch is in the “ON” position and that the USB cable is properly connected to the tablet.

What should I do when the “GNSS 1 autonomous” warning indicator appears?

GNSS is no longer receiving or giving accurate results. Check your Internet connection. The “POS” and “CAP” antennas should also be switched on.

What should I do when the “GNSS 2 hovering” warning light appears?

Make sure your tablet’s Internet connection is active and stable. Check that no obstacles (trees, buildings, power lines, etc.) interfere the connection between the GNSS antennas and the satellites.

What should I do if there are differences between my machine and site control points?

Ensure that the antennas are not reversed. Verify that the machine control system is correctly connected to the corresponding machine and bucket. Additionally, confirm that the positioning system used is the same between the project and the “SITENAV” solution.

What should I do in case of discrepancies when aligning to a reference point?

Make sure that the sensors are correctly positioned and that they have not been swapped around during installation.

How do I display the project reference and the elevation differences between the teeth of the bucket and the project reference?

Activate the DTM layer display on the right-hand banner

What should I do if an element cannot be selected in the line tracker?

Check that the project has been imported from a DXF drawing with the “Extract lines” option activated.

Why do the alarm icons for the 3D sensors (boom, arm, bucket, swing, roll) display?

Check sensor amperage and loading status in the “Diagnostics” dashboard.

How can I resolve problems with the design displays?

Ensure your projects have been imported with the appropriate options:

Plan background

DTM: Triangulation of project(s)

Line tracking

What is 3D machine control?

3D machine control is a solution that uses an on-board tablet to display the complete 3D map of the jobsite (geometric and topographical data). It offers operators greater autonomy by eliminating staking and reducing the need for surveyor intervention. From the cab, the operator can dig or grade with precision, based on information displayed on the screen or LED display (Bargraph). This system improves efficiency and precision, and considerably simplifies work in the field.

How long does it take to master the SITENAV solution?

SITENAV tools are designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, to simplify and optimise the operators workflow. Getting started takes just a few hours. Learning times can vary according to user and configuration, from one day in most cases, to 5 days if necessary.
SITENAV provides users with remote assistance services. Training videos and webinars are available, as well as customised training to meet your specific needs.

How long does it take to move the SITENAV solution from one machine to another?

Our wireless systems enable swift transfer from one machine to another, in less than 3 minutes. We recommend the operator’s presence during installation to determine with them the ideal sensor positions, in order to guarantee optimal, tailor-made installation.

How does SITENAV improve my productivity and competitiveness?

With over 20 years of experience on construction sites, our experts have developed solutions tailored to your specific needs. Our approach is based on actively listening to your requirements, allowing us to continuously develop tools that support your growth and enhance your competitiveness in the civil engineering market. With SITENAV, you benefit from functionalities that enable you to :

  • Transfer files remotely between your design office and the machine, and viceversa.
  • Update your designs in a single click.
  • Eliminate the need for stakes on your jobsites.
  • Switch to full Digital Project Management.
  • Calculate volumes directly on site using grid differences.
  • Avoid working close to moving machines therefore reducing risk of accidents.
What types of machine are compatible with SITENAV?

SITENAV is compatible with all types of excavators, bulldozers and compactors. What’s more, our solution offers the unique advantage of being used across multiple machines, thanks to its wireless technology. Transfer from one machine to another takes just a few minutes.
We also support a wide range of accessories, such as tilt buckets, rotators, submerged buckets, and many others, to meet your specific needs on your jobsite.

How long does it take to install a SITENAV system?

Thanks to our wireless technology, installation is a very straightforward process. In 99% of cases, one day is enough to install all the modules of our guidance solution. The system is up and running within a few hours of installation. Calibration files are saved directly in the SITENAV database and can be reinstalled remotely on another tablet.

How often should I schedule an up-date of my system?

Our installations are designed to be long-term, and some systems installed since 2018 have not required an overhaul. We regularly connect to your tablets, with your permission, to check the accuracy of the system and make corrections or improvements remotely if necessary. For buckets, we provide accessories and training to enable you to make quick and easy adjustments. We recommend you to check the X, Y and Z parameters each time you start up a machine, to ensure that your tasks run smoothly.

What is the autonomy of SITENAV machine control system?

SITENAV is designed to allow operators to use their guidance system throughout the entire workweek without needing to recharge it. Our solar-chargeable Bluetooth/radio sensors provide up to 80 hours of autonomy in darkness. However, in sunlight, they discharge faster than they recharge while in work mode. For optimal recharging, we recommend leaving them outdoors over the weekend. The autonomy of GNSS antennas varies by model, ranging from a full day for built-in batteries to just a few minutes for interchangeable batteries. Other components are powered directly by the machine. The tablet offers a 7-hour battery life under standard working conditions, extendable to up to 9 hours with an external battery.

What kind of warranty does SITENAV offer?

We offer a “manufacturer’s warranty” covering any product defects. This warranty is valid for one year on all our products, including tablets, sensors, and GNSS devices, and six months on accessories. Additionally, for every User License of our machine control software, we guarantee a convenient replacement, subject to prior analysis.

What kind of file formats are supported by SITENAV?

One of the key strengths of our solution is its compatibility with the universal DXF format, widely used across the industry. Developed by Autodesk, the Drawing Exchange Format (DXF) allows for easy sharing of CAD models between different 3D modeling programs. Supported by all major design tools and control systems, this format ensures seamless integration with all market players.

What differentiates SITENAV from other machine control solutions ?

Our solutions are developed by industry professionals to simplify machine operators’ tasks, enhance their autonomy, improve on-site safety, and boost productivity. With SITENAV, you can access features tailored to earthmoving and infrastructure management projects, enabling efficient surveys, precise layouts, and optimised guidance for lines and trench
